Cell surface proteins represent an important class of drug targets and biomarkers. However, cell surface proteomics has remained historically challenging due to the low abundance and poor solubility of many surface proteins. SurfaceScout™ is a chemoproteomic technology for the enrichment and quantification of cell surface proteins that enables these valuable targets to be systemically analyzed. In this approach to cell surface proteomics, surface proteins are first labeled via their glyco-structures, then enriched and subjected to quantitative LC-MS/MS, followed by bioinformatic analysis. By using SurfaceScout™ to understand the composition and dynamics of cell surface proteomes, researchers can effectively target drug delivery to specific tissues or cell types, develop therapeutic antibodies and immunotherapies acting in the extracellular space, and optimize uptake of ASOs, siRNAs, and other macromolecules.
