Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are a powerful therapeutic modality in which a monoclonal antibody is coupled to a chemotherapeutic drug. The antibody component directs delivery of the compound to target-specific antigens; once internalized by a target cell, the cytotoxic payload induces cell death. This strategy reduces the off-target effects associated with traditional chemotherapies, facilitating highly specific targeting of tumor cells or other disease-relevant cell populations.
